Blog creation

The purpose of this blog will be to report on the movies I've seen over the course of a full year. I started this exercise January 1, 2009 and I will start blogging about it sometime in early 2010. I needed to lock in a blog name however, which is why I'm putting up a post slightly early. The name I really wanted A Year In Movies, was taken (although the guy hasn't put up a post in over a year!). So this is my compromise.

At the end of this year, I'll put up the full list of movies I've seen, including links to their IMDB.Com entries and possibly mini-reviews and what I thought about them. Their will be stats as well (avg. runtime, breakdown by decade, most popular actor/actress, etc...). A movie will considered to have been "watched" if I see the whole thing through from opening credits to closing credits. Watching half a movie while falling asleep on the couch doesn't count. Also, if I see a movie on my IPhone through multiple sessions, that WILL count, because that's the format and it's my blog!

Genres mentioned in the blog are taken from a list I found on Filmsite.Org, which provides a reasonable description of each genre.

The format of this blog will be as follows:

Each month of the year will be a separate post. You can skip months by scrolling or by using the menu on the side of the blog. In each month, I will post the date I saw a movie, the name of the movie (linked to it's IMDB.com posting) and a short review or comments I have about the film. Comments by users are certainly welcome.

My current count as of this writing is 68 full movies for the year. I have no idea if that's a lot or a little. I can say that it doesn't feel like a lot.

If you have any ideas about what else I should be doing with this, let me know.
